So after waking at 4 am today (still on Aussie time) I set about for a big day of playing tourist in the fashion Capital of Europe. The Milanese would argue the World over a Peroni.

So the objective today was no transport, heaps of walking, lots of eating and get to the Duomo which is the big Cathedral in the centre of town.

Well as you can see from the photos it was a perfect day with blue skies all round.

I am not sure if their is a World Championship for Cathedral building, but if there was then the Italians would win by a mile. With St Peters in Rome and another monster of a Cathedral in Florence this 11,700 square metre effort in Milan built over 300 years is a piece of work. It's tourist attraction nĂºmero uno and for very good reason. I climbed to the top and from their you have amazing views across the whole city. I reckon you would fit around 6 Tennis courts up there with some left over room for a small grandstand. Inside is just as impressive with multiple architectural periods represented. The Italians would also get the gong for best Stained Glass makers as well. There are a couple of windows at the front which is like the Bible in pictures.

I did a little window shopping, ate seriously good gelato, panini and washed it down with some top notch coffee. I must have walked about 10 km today and get sun burnt in June fir the first time in my life. I am off tomorrow to France via the train pretty early, so looking forward to getting the bike out and burning off some of today's excesses. Before I do that I just need to same some Pizza a d Risotto tonight for dinner to complete the cuisine hit. Till later folks.

    Ciao

So after nearly 28 hours from leaving Thr house at Sydney I have landed in Milan late Saturday afternoon. After a well needed bath, I have just hit the main strip of shops to see how much Italian food experiences I can cram in 90 min. Gelato, Machiato, Peroni Beer and some tasty little Arancini balls. I'm full!!!
